Mia Olson, 9, of West Des Moines, performs her ventrilloquism act during the Bill Riley Talent Show at Gowrie's Fourth of July Celebration on Sunday afternoon. Olson, whose grandparents live in Boxholm, taught herself ventrilliquism and this was her first time performing in front of an audience. She won first place in the sprouts division and will compete at the Iowa State Fair later this summer.
