Mason Liska, 7, left, and Jaxon Lindstrom, 11, volunteer their mom Heather Liska when Dan Wardell calls for an adult to play Snow White — a request that had kids raising hands and parents refusing to make eye contact. Eventually Wardell called upon Children's Librarian Laurie Hotz to help him present the story.-Messenger photo by Joe Sutter
Dan Wardell coaxes Denny Ehn, 8, to give his best gorilla howl in preparation to play the role of one of Snow White's seven superheroes. Wardell had his young audience up and down through the entire story jumping, flapping, howling and growling, as he told how eating healthy and playing outside can make you a superhero.-Messenger photo by Joe Sutter

Dan Wardell looks for the next volunteer to play a superhero during his Reading Roadtrip storytime Monday at the Fort Dodge Public Library. Wardell has been here every summer for the past eight years, telling wild tales of robots, pirates and superheroes to encourage kids to shut off the TV and use their imagination.
