Navy Seabees veteran Dick Sample, of Emmetsburg, breaks into a huge smile Saturday night as he recognizes his son, U.S. Army Cpt. Charles Sample, of Fort Riley, Kansas, as the Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight returns to Fort Dodge. The meeting was a complete surprise for the veteran who had no idea his son was going to come meet him after they spoke on the phone Saturday morning. "I thought he was still in Kansas," Sample said. "I never expected any of this."
