Suzanne Popson, left, Des Moines, meets a Portuguese Podengo Pequeno held by Coleen Collen, of Dayton. The breed was first recognized by the American Kennel Club in 2013. This one is only 4 months old, and came to this show to get used to the idea before his first show in Oklahoma City next week.

Sydney, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, chases after the plastic "lures" in the coursing event at the Fort Dodge Kennel Club dog show. Saturday's event was not judged. Ridgebacks are a kind of sighthound, which can compete in lure coursing events to be judged on speed, agility and following skill.
